Like many kids who grew up playing with X-Wing fighters, John Cosper grew up dreaming about making movies. Like most dreamers, he gave up those ambitions before he hit college. Then a funny thing happened: the dreams came looking for him. After dropping out of acting class as a freshman, John found himself writing sketches for a weekly youth program at his church. Drawing inspiration from SNL, Monty Python, The State, and other sketch shows, this ministry led to the formation of Righteous Insanity, a drama ministry that produced over 1200 scripts and (for a short time) a national touring comedy troupe. He also wrote for and participated in the ground-breaking theatrical production Elevator Plays with Specific Gravity Ensemble. Around the same time he went on the road, John turned back to his first love, movies. After studying the art of screenwriting, John began producing short films in 2004, including the highly successful Fluffy trilogy and a feature film-length compilation, Holy Shorts. He has written for a number of film and television studios including Azuspeak Productions, Florence Productions, Uplifting Entertainment, Simplified Entertainment, and Fredicus Productions, who produced his first feature film script, Wingman. He has written comedies, dramas, thrillers, science fiction, and children’s television programs. John also enjoys writing stories for the written page, particularly in his favorite genre, science fiction. He enjoys a wide range of science fiction, collecting books by writers such as Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, and Philip K. Dick as well as low-budget b-movies from the 1950’s and beyond. His passion for both ends of the sci-fi spectrum comes out in his novels and short stories, as does his humor. When he’s not writing, John enjoys spending time with his wife and kids.
