A Left Behind Parody by John Cosper
This is the story of an airline pilot with a stray eye, a hypocritical pastor, an award winning journalist writer who bears a striking resemblance to that guy who was on that 80's sitcom, and the rapture. Yes, friends, this is the story of... the Left Overs!
The rapture comes like a thief in the night, leaving our aforementioned heroes, the pilot's wife, his would-be mistress, and many others behind. It also leaves behind a hot shot international political sensation with a back story that sounds oddly like Serpentor from GI Joe - who may or may not be the Anti-Christ.
As the forces of evil descend on the United Nations, the Left Overs band together and rally behind the texts they believe will guide them through the rapture: Left Behind series. Casting the Bible aside, the Left Overs choose to follow the book to the letter, justifying sin and other naughty acts in the name of righteousness as they set out to thwart the Anti-Christ and his evil plans, which strangely enough include getting his hands on the world's best recipe for egg salad.
It's the parody that's long over due, the one Timmy and Jerry B. had coming to them. A hilarious take on the popular book series that, in the end, reminds us that "no man knows the day or hour." So relax, serve the Lord, stop tying to scare people into Heaven, and enjoy the end of days according to the Left Overs!
